Deicer Safe For Concrete

Never use deicers containing ammonium sulphate or ammonium nitrate.

This concrete deicer is non corrosive and friendly to plant life. It works much slower than calcium chloride and only melts snow and ice in temperatures down to 12 degrees fahrenheit. The only real benefit to using magnesium chloride over calcium chloride is that magnesium chloride is safer for vegetation. Under usual conditions deicers which contain sodium chloride common salt may be used sparingly after the first winter.

Magnesium chloride is works well in temperatures as low as 5 f and is safe for concrete. De icers should not be used on new concrete wait until it is at least one year old and it has been treated with a sealer to reduce the amount of salt that can penetrate the surface. It is 100 percent calcium magnesium acetate safe for new concrete and it does work. The only safe material to use to make the concrete surface skid resistant is plain sand.

But before i get to the de icers let me talk about a new kid on the block the ice that is simply not slippery eco ice grip. Avoid any deicing chemical the first winter. It is widely considered one of the more environmentally sound deicers.
