Lift valve cartridge out of body. I called delta to order a new bonnet nut and they told me to first try mixing half very hot water and half white vinegar then dip a cloth into the mixture and wrap it around the bonnet. I feel as though i am missing something obvious here. Do not pry the valve cartridge out of the body with a screwdriver.

Customer had a 3 year old delta 9178 dst touch kitchen faucet with the diamond cartridge in it. There was a lot of calcium buildup inside once i got it off. I have been grabbing the base with channel locks and trying to unloosen the nut with adjustable wrench. The bonnet nut fits over the faucet valve and holds the valve into place.

However the bonnet will not budge when i take the pipe wrench to it. I managed to get the handle off with some force and slight twisting back and forth. Place handle on stem and rotate counterclockwise approximately 1 4 turn after the stop has been contacted. I am attempting to replace the diamond seal cartridge in my delta kitchen sink faucet but i cannot loosen the bonnet nut from the plastic base see pic no matter what i try.

To remove the bonnet nut turn it in a counterclockwise direction with a wrench until the nut is free from the threads on the valve then lift the nut up and over the valve to complete the removal process. I m trying to replace the cartridge in my leaking delta monitor bathtub faucet.
